How to calculate the number of times an alphabet (e.g. “a”) occur in a word contained within a cell If the cell A1 contains the word/phrase (e.g. “lose weight”) and you want to find how many times the alphabet “e” appears in word/phrase, you can make use of the formulas LEN and SUBSTITUE to find out.
